Robin's have returned to us full of energy after the Easter break. Our first week back has been based on the story, 'The Hungry Caterpillar.' We read the story and then outside we printed our own hungry caterpillars.
In Maths we were threading beads to make caterpillars and counting the total amount of beads we used. Some caterpillars even went for a walk! We practised ordering our numbers from 11-20 and counted how many body parts the caterpillar had. We also built some fruit for the hungry caterpillar to eat.
We used playdough to make a cocoon for the caterpillar and wings for the butterfly.
We had a go at mixing colours, talking about what happens when you mix two colours together.
We wrote about the foods the hungry caterpillar ate.
We made caterpillar paper chains, drew a story map of the hungry caterpillar with our friend, made 2D shape butterfly patterns and learned about the life cycle of a butterfly.
We have been learning about what we need to do to keep ourselves healthy. We read the story, 'Oliver's Fruit Salad' and talked about healthy foods and foods we can have, little but often. We sorted foods into 'healthy' and 'unhealthy' and made our own fruit kebabs. We talked about the importance of physical activity and drinking water and getting lots of sleep.
We read the story, 'The Frog Prince' and found out all about frogs. We learned about the lifecycle of a frog, made frog faces, wrote about the story and made playdough crowns and princesses.
Robins continue to be busy bees learning outdoors. They share, talk, construct, create, keep active and have lots of fun and laughter.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
