A massive thank you to all of the children who submitted an entry for the book writing competition, you all put in so much effort and we really enjoyed reading every one! Thank you

Thursday 3rd March - World Book Day

Happy World Book Day! What super costumes we have seen around school today. There have been princesses, dinosaurs, skeletons, mummies, caterpillar butterflies, witches, wizards, Grandpas, boys in dresses, and much much more. The children have loved talking about their favourite characters from their favourite books and we have loved to see how much they are inspired by everything they are reading. Well done Haynes Lower School and Happy World Book Day!

Wednesday 2nd March - Book Buddies

Today, children across the school buddied up with a friend from another year group to share a book together. Year 4s read with Ducklings, Year 3s read with Year 1s and Year 2s read with Robins. Books of all types were read: story books, joke books, history books, atlas', comics... It was amazing to see all the children to displaying such a passion for reading across the school.

Tuesday 1st March - Book Swap Shop

Today, children brought in an old book from home to swap for a new book at Haynes' Book Swap Shop. The children were so excited to look through all of the second hand books that had been brought in and choose a new book to take home and read. So many books have found a new home and a new child to read them. I hope you all enjoy reading your new books!

Monday 28th February - Bedtime Stories

Today, the children came to school dressed in their favourite pyjamas. At the end of the day, the children stayed into the early evening to enjoy some bedtime stories, hot chocolate and biscuits. All the children got cosy on the carpet and settled in to listen to some of their favourite stories read by their class teachers. The children were given cups of hot chocolate to enjoy whilst listening to the stories and some classes even displayed a pretend fire to make the whole classroom feel cosier. What a super start to World Book Week!
